Trust Your Process
"Dang, we're getting old!" That's always my thought when I see a new baby or wedding announcement. As I go throughout my day, I realize that doctors, lawyers, and executive chefs are all my age. Everything the world preaches about being successful as an adult, I see in my peer group. My peers are buying houses, starting families, and building businesses. These realizations, naturally, make me assess my place in this world. I'm not interested in purchasing a house, marriage is not in my foreseen future, and I have no clue what career I'm gonna successfully pursue. As I look at the list of accomplishments that the world has beat into our consciousness, I noticed that the only one I can claim is motherhood. Immediately I thought, "But, I'm so much more than a mother." Why does this world teach us to equate our self worth with our net worth? Why is our value proven by someone else loving us? These standards of success will have you comparing yourself to others and feeling like you're not enough. Contrary to popular belief, the only person you need to compare yourself to is who you were in the past. Have you grown? Are you actively working at being a better you? If so, GREAT JOB!! You're on the right track: your track. Keep living the life that makes you happy and chasing the dreams that fulfill you. It may not look picture perfect to anyone but if it brings peace and joy to you, you're winning. There are people who are financially stable, with a successful career, and a beautiful family, who are still miserable! Learn to really love yourself and appreciate where you are in life. There is no net worth or major accomplishment that can guarantee happiness. You have to find that within yourself by loving you no matter your circumstances. Everyone's path in life is different. Trust your process of moving through life and understand that you'll eventually reach and surpass your goals. This is your life. Live it how it pleases you! And, if no one else has said it to you, I am so proud of you and I admire you for being exactly who you are at this moment.
