What/Who has power over you?

What/Who has power over you?

You're having a good day, in one of your best moods, and then it happens: you see someone, someplace, or something that immediately triggers a bad mood and negative feelings. What is that thing? Who is that person? Why have you given it/them power over your mental and emotional state?

As we strive to be our best, often times, certain people or situations will highlight our rough edges: the places we haven't quite yet smoothed out. Just having these things in your presence will have you feeling like you're at a low point. Or worst, you have those people that will literally take you from 0 to 100, REAL QUICK!! You're human so this is bound to happen once, twice.....ten times for those of us who are not great with sugarcoating, but at some point, you have to learn how to regain self control and stop allowing these things or people to take you out of your element.

We're now in a time where, everyday, we are faced with some type of backlash for just being who we are (I know many of you are thinking, "these issues have been in existence," but social media puts it in our face NONSTOP!), so it is essential to protect your peace. The only person that should have power over you, IS YOU! (Or God, for the believers). Take note of what triggers you and teach yourself ways to overcome these moments. One of my favorite tactics is to immediately focus on what I can do right instead of thinking of everything someone else is doing wrong. I try to use every moment to critique and better myself because after all, I'm the only one I can control. So while y'all are out there securing the bag, take sometime to secure your peace!
